I was locked out of my house and also wanted to get a lock for my door replaced. I spoke with someone on the phone to confirm internet prices. I was told that the cost to come to a home was more than to a car (which I did not understand why). So that price quoted to me was $25.00. I spoke with the rep and after he looked at my garage door he then quoted me a price of $163.00!
I definitely was not planning to pay that price. I asked him to break down the charges and he said it was now $50.00 for coming out and $50 and $40 to change locks for breaking in and that if I had cash it would only cost me $140 but since I planned to use my card it would now cost me $160. It also took 2 hours after my initial call for someone to come out and when he told me he was on the way in 20 min it took him almost a hour.
My fiancé came to the house before he arrived. As I discussed the unexpected higher prices my fiancé looks at the door takes his credit card and opens my door in like two seconds! I of course had to change my locks but with all of added charges we opted to go to Lowes and handle it ourselves. My experience was less than desirable and I feel like it was a bait and switch.
The internet, the prices over the phone and then in person he prices just kept going up! I do not feel that it should not cost almost $200 to change locks and if I was including the emergency lock out prices I should have not had to wait 2 hours! By the way I paid a charge of $25 for the rep to come out. (notice it was $25 and not the new price of $50).
Lastly, I also did not like the idea of a unmarked vehicle and not being presented with a business card made me feel very uncomfortable! So uncomfortable that I did not want to supply my credit card information and went to ATM to get cash for him to come out. I do not recommend using this service and caution others to get a concrete price before having someone come out. I am not happy I was out of $25 but ecstatic that it was not $160.00!
