The owner of Rahn's locksmith just left my home and I am livid. Why? Because this man was condescending, misprepresented himself and his services, and after a five minute service that involved using a flat head screwdriver to press open a stuck screendoor lock he charged me $95. He said in our initial phone call that if he did nothing and it did not require additional materials, he might not charge me at all. When I reminded him of that, he told me directly that I did not hear him correctly. After he wedged the door open with the screwdriver and said the fee for his service (mid-week, and inside the city of Lincoln) was $95 I was shocked. I understand service people need to be paid, I have absolutely no problem with that, but $95 for this level of work is exhorbitant.
When I pressed him on this, his condescending response was, "Why didn't you do it yourself then?" This locksmith tells me he has been in business for 30 years. I cannot fathom how if this is the way he treats customers. I have utilized services and given services through my own business over the years where no fee was charged, or a significantly reduced fee was collected because no real service was provided. Those are the service providers I continue to call again and again. Rahn's Lock Service will not be one of them.
